Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 July 2026

This policy explains what personal data YouClip collects, why, and what rights you have. Goleady Ltd(“YouClip”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in the United Kingdom, is the data controller for the personal data described here. It applies to the YouClip desktop app and the website and services at youclip.ai.

1. Data we collect

  • Account details — your name and email address, whether your email is verified, an optional profile image, your account role, and your token balance.
  • Sign-in credentials — if you sign up with a password, it is stored only in hashed form; we never store or see your plaintext password. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information and authentication tokens from Google.
  • Session and device data — when you are signed in we store a session record that includes your IP address and browser or device user-agent, used to keep you logged in and to protect your account.
  • Purchases and token history — a ledger of your token credits and debits, including references to your Stripe payments.
  • Render activity — records of the render jobs you run (such as mode, duration and token cost) and any caption presets you save.
  • Support messages — anything you send us when you contact support.

2. How your media is processed

When you use features such as transcription, translation, title or highlight suggestions, or voiceover, the relevant audio and transcript text is sent to our AI processing provider, OpenAI, to generate the result. This content is processed only to provide the feature you asked for. It is not used to train AI models, and your source video files are not retained on our servers beyond what is needed to process your request. Much of the app’s work also runs locally on your own device.

3. Payments

Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store any of your card details — your card number and security details go directly to Stripe, which handles them under its own security standards and privacy policy. We only keep a record that a payment happened and the tokens it added to your balance.

4. Why we use your data and our legal bases

  • To provide the Service — creating your account, processing renders and purchases (performance of our contract with you).
  • To keep the Service secure — preventing fraud and abuse and diagnosing problems (our legitimate interests).
  • To communicate with you — service messages and support replies (contract and legitimate interests).
  • To meet legal duties — keeping records we are required to keep, such as for tax (legal obligation).
  • Optional features — where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

5. Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • OpenAI — transcription, translation, titles, highlights and voiceover.
  • Google — sign-in, if you choose to use it.
  • Our hosting provider — to run the service and store account data.

We do not sell your personal data, and we only share it as described here or where required by law.

6. International transfers

Some of our providers, including Stripe and OpenAI, may process data outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our systems, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal obligations (for example, transaction records required for accounting and tax). Payment records held by Stripe are kept under Stripe’s own retention rules.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
  • receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • restrict or object to certain processing; and
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Dashboard → Account settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and associated data — your sessions, token ledger, render history and saved presets — subject to the limited legal-record exceptions in section 7. You can also email [email protected] and we will action the deletion for you.

10. Cookies

We use a single strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. It is essential to the Service and is not used for advertising or tracking. Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, no cookie consent banner is required. If we ever introduce analytics or marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

11. Children

The Service is not intended for children. You must be at least 18, or otherwise old enough to contract with guardian consent, to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

12. Security

We protect your data with measures including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will notify you and the relevant authority of a serious data breach as required by law.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above shows when. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
